Building a sustainable tomorrow BAM FM are looking for a Sustainability advisor to work hybrid from any of our UK&I offices. Your mission As an Environmental Sustainability Advisor, you will be under the guidance of the Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager (SESM) for the region / Business Unit. Your pivotal role involves championing BAM’s evolution into a sustainable business as the essential link to our operational units within your designated area. You will facilitate and oversee the execution of environmental compliance to ISO14001, embedding strategies and procedures, support local initiatives, assist with tenders, upskilling, and BAM’s progress towards its sustainability targets all while being the go-to resource for specialist environmental sustainability advice when needed. Role Specific Responsibilities 1. Environmental Sustainability Expertise: • Demonstrate a track record of delivering environmental improvements within the sector and associated trades. • Possess knowledge of ISO14001 compliance and assurance, along with key environmental aspects. • Support project implementation and delivery, management reviews, and associated procedures and plans. 2. Standards and Reporting: • Adhere to industry standards, company procedures, and legal requirements. • Communicate risks and opportunities to relevant projects. • Understand sector-specific reporting standards and key performance indicators. • Support the SESM as required to provide monthly reports and inform continual improvement. 3. Effective Communication: • Promote awareness of BAM’s sustainability strategy and key themes (decarbonisation, circular economy, climate adaptation, and biodiversity). • Support the business by delivering training and awareness sessions to project teams. 4. Client Focus: • Support work winning and project delivery. • Act as the initial point of contact for PQQ and Tender support, providing information /narrative as required. Who are we looking for? Necessary: Good understanding of environmental legislation and UK regulatory framework and the ISO14001 standard. Technical qualification in Environmental Management with experience working in an environmental role (preferably in FM industry). Practitioner member of IEMA (or similar) and working towards Full Member and/or Chartered Environmentalist. Articulate and engaging communication skills. Desirable: Good working knowledge of decarbonising buildings and ecology management, preferably in relation to the FM engineering industry. Strong connections and involvement with industry forum groups and trade bodies. Experience of working within a team both co-located and operating remotely. Collaborative and supportive behaviours. Understanding of digital construction vision and its application and proficient in the application and use of information technology. What’s in it for you?
