Job overview
We are looking for a Band 7 Healthcare Scientist to work with the Radiology Physics Department at University Hospitals Dorset. Final year STP trainees in DR/RP will be considered for appointment and B6 and supported to complete their training.
Base Location: Poole Hospital, cross site working will be required
Interview Date: TBC
Main duties of the job
* Quality Assurance of ionising radiation imaging equipment
* Guidance and advice in radiation protection
* Teaching and training of other staff groups and trainees/apprentices
* Participate in IRR & IR(ME)R audits
Person specification
Qualifications
* A good honours degree in Physics or related subject and / or equivalent knowledge / experience.
* Relevant M.Sc. and successful completion of the STP training scheme in an appropriate specialism, or equivalent.
* Registration with the HCPC
Experience
* Minimum of 3 years working / training in appropriate specialism/s within Medical Physics (includes the STP scheme or equivalent).
* Knowledge & experience of appropriate ionising radiations legislation, QC and optimisation techniques.
Technical Skills
* Able to use Excel, Word, Access etc. to set up documents, spreadsheets and databases and extract information. Able to use specialized software to analyse complex data.
Knowledge
* Understanding of risks arising from a range of imaging techniques.
* Understanding of patient and staff risks arising from ionising radiation exposure
Language
* Able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
