Department Description The Hogan Lovells International LLP Finance Function which reports to the Global Finance Director comprises around 250 staff, around 65 of whom are in London. The Function has four key areas of responsibility: Transaction processing Reporting Control Decision Support The core financial and management reporting team presently comprises 8 people, reporting to the Group Financial Controller in London and Johannesburg. The team also works very closely with other teams within Finance and other departments. The duties and responsibilities set out below are divided amongst the team and not necessarily dealt with by every member of the team. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities Role Summary Predominantly working with the global financial controller and the senior financial accounts manager in rolling out global projects. This will include: providing review and analysis of local office accounts as part of group consolidation including review of balance sheet accounts. improving consistency across global finance teams and implementing efficiencies. preparation of group accounts and working with group auditors. working with international tax team providing reporting to support tax submissions including preparation for Pillar Two. ad hoc projects. Group Management Accounts Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts for the UK region. This includes preparing specific month end adjustments, providing support to Business Services directors/Management of the firm and reviewing the monthly figures for the UK region. Preparation of HLI wide adjustments (eg. Bad debts, rebates, cost allocations). Liaising with local finance teams to ensure timely completion of management accounts. Assisting with accounting complications, journal processing, the review of balance sheet control accounts and ensuring compliance with the firm's policies. Contributing to the preparation of quarterly Group management accounts for the firm, together with supporting commentary explaining and interpreting the results. Correction of any errors in posting and dealing with other queries raised. Working with International finance teams to help them to understand their results. Developing a high degree of knowledge of the firm's financials and performance. Group Statutory Accounts and compliance Involvement in the preparation of the Group's Limited Liability Partnership and subsidiary financial statements under applicable International Financial Reporting Standards. Working closely with the audit team and liaising with the accountants in the Group offices to ensure that the audit completes efficiently. Working with international tax team providing reporting to support tax submissions including preparation for Pillar Two. Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services. All members of the firm participate in our Responsible Business program. Person Specification Qualifications, Skills and Experience Essential ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent. Microsoft Project skills, Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills. Experience of analytical review, interpretation of trends and delivering results in a deadline driven environment. Thorough knowledge of the use of Excel spreadsheets. Desired Experience of preparation of statutory financial statements. Law firm experience. The Candidate Ability to deal with managers at a senior level and partners both in and outside the UK when required. Diplomatic yet persuasive. Willingness to work as part of a team, working closely with a number of other qualified accountants and non-qualified staff. Because of the nature of the work and structure of the department tasks are always specifically allocated to individuals but shared out as workloads require. Diligence and have the ability to review critically and also carefully check his or her own work, and the work of more junior members of the team. The output of the candidate will have a very high profile and errors will be noticed. Pro-active and continually be looking to add value to the areas of work assigned to them. A hands-on approach. There will be little scope for delegation. Able to plan their own work with the minimum of supervision and ensure tasks are completed in full in accordance with a strict timetable - a proven ability to plan ahead is essential. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
