The role:
Reporting into the Head of Travel Underwriting, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for managing the underwriting performance of one of the UK’s largest travel insurance portfolios and tasked with growing Collinson’s travel insurance business globally. You will collaborate and support areas across the business including Account Management, Business Development, Finance, Data and Actuarial,, to evolve our products in order to drive profitable growth.
Always with a keen eye on the balance between revenue growth and the potential for escalating claims costs, you will identify and implement controls to pricing and operational process, developing new ideas to ensure the business runs within the expected limits.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the underwriting performance of travel insurance for Collinson, understanding the various revenue models that drive Collinson’s long-term operating income and working with Actuarial to ensure accurate IBNR and reserve calculations.
Work alongside the Senior Travel Pricing Analyst to create pricing models, clearly communicating the underwriting logic and forecasted underwriting performance to relevant internal and external stakeholders and reinsurance capacity when required.
Work with Commercial and Business Development to create and enhance products with a strong focus on customer need. Evolve policy wordings, looking to balance the needs of back-office consistency with an innovative approach to customer communication.
Develop reporting to monitor and analyse sales and underwriting performance, proposing recommendations for product and pricing changes.
Work with our reinsurance capacity providers to develop a mutual understanding of risk appetite and approach to underwriting decisions to aid future growth and enhanced commercial success.
Support the business development functions by developing solid working relationships with our key distribution partners, showing a true understanding of their business need.
About you:
You will be an experienced Senior underwriter, with expertise and experience within the travel insurance/assistance sector, preferably across UK and European markets.
This is a seniorrole with a focus on helping Collinson grow our travel portfolio profitably on an increasing global scale.
Other key skills & experience needed:
Experience at delivering underwriting profitability whilst growing a travel portfolio.
Experience in bringing to market a range of innovating product and pricing strategies.
Experience in a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage varied projects & priorities within a growing business
Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to successfully influence and build key relationships
Excellent attention to detail-analytically focused, data experience
