Reporting to the Production Team Leaders, the Maintenance Engineer will ensure the smooth running of the machinery and equipment, as well as performing general maintenance tasks related to the site services. The overall aim of this role will be to minimise downtime through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), improve production facilities, reduce the costs of breakdowns, resource and repairs, and increase overall reliability and safety of the plant, personnel and production processes.
Key Tasks/ Accountabilities
* Carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment faults.
* Dealing with emergencies, breakdowns and repairs.
* Checking and calibrating instruments to ensure accuracy.
* Breakdowns: Use diagnostic and fault-finding methods to establish route cause and repair plant and equipment ensuring minimal downtime. Using your findings, contribute to improving planned preventative maintenance.
* Always adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
* Fit new parts and make sure equipment is working correctly.
* Ensure that there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.
* Provide training to operators to enable them to perform routine basic maintenance activities such as cleaning valves etc.
* Participate in training programmes to stay updated with new technologies and best practices in maintenance engineering.
* Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance issues and improve overall efficiencies.
* Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
* Manage external contractors whilst onsite.
* Assist with new plant builds / and installations across the sites.
The Successful Applicant
* A mechanical engineering apprenticeship or qualification.
* Industrial or manufacturing background.
* Electrical and mechanical training/experience within an industrial setting.
* Working at Heights.
* Planned Preventative Maintenance.
* PLC Fault Finding / 3Phase.
* Capacity to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures.
* Team-working skills to collaborate and liaise with people at all levels.
* Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
* Confidence to respond positively when under pressure.
* Ability to logically fault find.
* Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings (desirable).
* Understanding of hydraulics and compressed air systems (desirable).

Hours of Work: 37 hours average Monday to Friday, Rotating shifts either 06:00-14:00 or 14:00-22:00 or short overlap ensuring cover for 0600-2000hrs.
