JOB- Senior Buyer
TERM- Permanent
My client works within Civil Engineering, and they are looking to take on a Buyer on a permanent basis, in the Berkshire area.
The Senior Buyer will ideally have the following attributes:
* Previous experience working within a similar Buyer / Purchasing role within a Civil Engineering / Construction environment ideally
* Supporting with purchasing activities for a range of Commercial, Residential and Infrastructure projects
* Have excellent knowledge and experience in purchasing materials and also sub-contractor services
* Any previous exposure to working with procurement software would be desirable
* Be able to extract material quantities from construction drawings i.e drainage
* A background in Quantity Surveying could be useful but not essential
* Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a team
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
The Senior Buyer role will involve:
* Working with colleagues in Estimating and Quantity Surveying
* Material sourcing and purchasing – a range of construction materials such as concrete, aggregates and other supplies
* Sub-contract sourcing and purchasing for various projects
* Relationship management with suppliers and site teams
* Working with procurement software to place orders and review invoices
* Contract negotiations - work with suppliers to secure the best value
* Regularly monitoring supplier performance to ensure reliability and quality
