JOB DESCRIPTION
The Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is currently seeking a Social Worker, reporting to the Clinical Manager. The successful candidate will be a Social Worker with sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health including mood, anxiety and borderline personality trait disorders. In addition to psychosocial assessment, you will provide individual, family and group time-limited manualized therapy. You will work actively with our multidisciplinary team, our families, referral sources and community partners and will provide manualized therapy and case management, as needed, to ensure a smooth transition to a successful Recovery-oriented discharge. Our clients come with a history of severe and persistent mental illness and are in need of tertiary specialty services. Some travel required.
Requirements:
* Masters in Social Work
* Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing
* Current CPR – HCP required
* Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College.
* 3-5 years experience in a psychiatric/mental health setting or service preferred
* Completion of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training with two years’ experience in delivery preferred
* Preferred knowledge and experience with eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, mood, anxiety and borderline personality trait disorders within an adolescent population
* Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
* Proven ability to work effectively as part of an Interdisciplinary team and demonstrated competence in performing the Discharge Facilitator role, case management, clinical assessment and intervention and documentation of care.
* Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical social/mental health work.
* Demonstrated experience in several therapeutic modalities especially CBT, DBT, IPT, CPT.
* Thorough knowledge of social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community.
* Knowledge and experience with the challenges involved in community reintegration of longer-stay psychiatric inpatients.
* Training, experience and/or advanced knowledge, in behavioural counseling and interventions an asset.
* Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy.
* Sound knowledge of DSM-IV diagnoses, concurrent disorders and crisis intervention theory and techniques.
* Demonstrated excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking abilities.
* The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language an asset.
* Proven excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
* Proven good attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard.
* Variable hours may be required due to patient demand.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a family therapy based context.
* Demonstrated working knowledge/experience with computers.
* Evidence of strong professional boundaries.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and within an inter-professional team environment.
* Preferred demonstrated experience in clinical research or quality improvement.
* Valid Driver's License required.
