Job Description:
Trainee probation officer programme with a training salary of £26,475 (during training), moving to £35,130 once in a qualified probation officer role. There is a London weighting allowance of £4,249 which is additional to these salaries.
As a probation officer, you can change lives. You’ll work with offenders in the community, in prisons, and in courts to support them in getting back on track and turning their lives around. What the Role Involves:
You’ll work as a probation services officer while earning your qualification. Your responsibilities include:
1. Visiting prisons and attending courts.
2. Making interventions with offenders to help them understand their behavior and motivate them to change.
3. Helping offenders realize their potential to build a more positive future and reduce the chance of reoffending.
4. Working with victims of crime, colleagues across the criminal justice system, charities, and the wider community.
Skills and Experience:

3. Strong rapport-building skills and the ability to de-escalate volatile situations.
4. A passion for and commitment to your work.
5. Excellent report-writing skills.
6. Experience working with individuals who have demonstrated challenging behavior (paid or voluntary).
What You Need to Apply:
You’ll need a recognized Level 3 qualification or above, such as A level, access to higher educational diploma, advanced apprenticeship, applied general, or AS level. The subject of your Level 3 qualification does not matter. We offer different learning programs depending on your qualification level, ranging from 15 months for Graduates with a level 5 qualification to 27 months for our non-graduate program. If your application is successful, we’ll assess your previous education to determine the correct length of the program – 15, 21, or 27 months.
