A tier 1 Contractor, and their refurbishment team, is growing and are looking for an Estimator to join them. They company are looking for candidates that have experience of working within a main contractor on Social Housing refurbishment projects, partnerships and frameworks.
The ideal candidate will already be managing individual tenders up to the value of £20m.
Responsibilities
1. Proactively taking a lead in preparing the quantitative aspects of tenders, PQQ and bid submissions. Oversee work completed by other members of the team.
2. Actively promote achieving an integrated approach to tender finalisation to ensure best bid solution for the region, working closely with the commercial and operations teams.
3. Assess contract conditions, provide advice on and quantify the risk to all relevant parties and offer workable solutions.
4. Responsible for effectively planning tenders to ensure timely and accurate preparation of tender documentation and pricing information resulting in a quality submission.
5. Prepare builders quantities from drawings and specifications.
6. Identify and investigate abnormal site conditions to ensure a full understanding of related risks.
7. Ensure effective team collaboration with the wider business, communicating with operations and commercial teams.
8. Responsible for the development of cost models and predicted life cycle costs across the operation, working closely with the Business Development Team to analyse market benchmarks and internal cost/value data including performance mechanisms.
9. Ensure tenders are produced effectively such as enquiries are sent to supply chain in a timely manner, supply chain quotations are compared efficiently and effectively and ensure compliance, prelim costs are prepared accurately, risks are identified and escalated, constraints are identified and managed.
10. Actively participate in the adjudication process, ensuring tenders are accurately prepared and presented as required.
11. Attend meetings such as mobilisation meetings, handover meetings, design meetings, bid meetings.
12. Ensure tender programmes, design information and methods of construction are developed with the Planning and Technical Teams.
13. Develop and systems for tendering.
14. Engage with supply chain to gain commitment and 'best solution'.
15. Develop systems and procedures within the department with the senior members of the team.
16. Maintain and continuously improve commercial awareness.
17. Proactively involved with proposals to improve the estimating provision within the business.
Requirements
1. Minimum 5 years Estimator experience is desirable
2. Proven track record of winning profitable work
3. Skills in Microsoft Office particularly Excel Estimating Software Packages
4. Data interrogation skills
5. Good knowledge of marketing and economic factors.
6. Flexible approach to working to meet tender deadlines.
7. Energetic, logical, and methodical.
8. Good legal/contractual knowledge
9. Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
10. Proven track record in the development of cost models and predicted life cycle costs
