Role Description: Head of Business Development
Location: Wakefield City Centre/Home (with regular office attendance and travel to client sites)
Reports To: CEO
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth.
* Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and sectors where Morphologic’s no-code platform can deliver exceptional value.
* Work closely with the CEO and the Board to align growth strategies with company goals.
Sales and Client Relationship Management
* Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, ensuring a steady flow of new opportunities.
* Lead client acquisition efforts, presenting Morphologic’s platform as the perfect solution for their needs.
* Serve as the key point of contact for strategic clients, ensuring exceptional service and long-term relationships.
* Negotiate and close contracts that align with Morphologic’s goals and values.
* Expand existing client relationships, identifying upsell opportunities.
Growing and Managing a Team
* Build and lead a high-performing business development team as the organisation scales, ensuring the right talent is in place to support long-term growth.
* Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities to team members, creating a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
* Define team goals, KPIs, and success metrics, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
* Optimise team structure and processes, refining workflows and sales strategies to enhance efficiency and results.
* Lead by example in client engagement and deal-making, setting a standard for excellence in relationship management and negotiation.
Collaboration and Communication
* Act as a bridge between clients and internal teams to ensure alignment and clear communication.
* Provide regular updates and progress reports to the CEO and key stakeholders.
* Work closely with the Product Development team to integrate client feedback and market trends into product offerings.
Marketing and Brand Development
* Represent Morphologic at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to promote our brand.
* Develop and execute marketing strategies that raise Morphologic’s profile in the no-code platform market.
Performance and Reporting
* Set and achieve ambitious sales and growth targets, measuring performance through clear metrics.
* Provide detailed reports on account progress, pipeline development, and forecasted goals.
What You Bring
Essential Skills and Experience
* You don’t need decades of experience, but you do need a demonstrable track record of success. Whether that’s growing a customer base, exceeding sales targets, or finding creative ways to engage clients.
* At least 8 years in business development, sales, or key account management (or a transferable area).
* Strong understanding of organisational needs across multiple sectors and how digital tools can drive transformation.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills—you can confidently present ideas to potential customers, whether it’s in a boardroom, at an industry event, or over a coffee and a chat.
* Skilled in negotiation and influencing, with a focus on building lasting client relationships.
* Proficient in Microsoft 365 and familiar with CRM tools to track progress and opportunities.
* Exceptionally adaptable—you thrive in fast-changing environments, can pivot strategies when needed, and embrace new challenges with confidence.
* A natural problem solver that can proactively identify obstacles, think critically, and develop creative solutions to drive success for both clients and the business.
* Experience in the software industry.
* Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
* A degree or equivalent relevant experience in a related field.
