About the stores
Both White Lion Street and St Stephens’ Street stores are based on prime city centre high street locations, just five minutes’ walk from each other. The two stores are well-established with easy access from nearby car parks and shopping centre.
Longwater store is located in a large Sainsbury’s superstore to the west of Norwich. The Pound Lane store sits to the east of Norwich, just outside a Sainsbury’s store adjacent to a large private dentist and GP walk in centre. Both have free parking in the vicinity.
A combined team of 165 colleagues work in the stores. They are kitted out with all the latest technology and offer enhanced clinical services such as CUES and Pvt EOS. You would be joining Lee Fowle who has been with Specsavers in Norwich for 8 years as Retail Director and Suraj Shah, Optometry Director. Lee and Suraj are really looking forward to gaining two Optometry Partners to help them drive the businesses forward, so they flourish for many years to come.
White Lion Street
White Lion Street Specsavers opened in 1993 so is a well-established store on the main high street. Having recently had a complete refit, the store has 13 test rooms and 3 of these are set up for Tele Optometry testing split across 2 floors. White Lion Street itself is a pedestrianised shopping area which receives a high footfall of shoppers visiting the numerous shops, cafes and restaurants in the street as well as the nearby Castle Mall.
St Stephen’s Street
St Stephen’s Street store opened in 2012 and underwent a complete refit in 2020 and now boasts 7 optical test rooms. These are all fully kitted out with the latest technology using Nidek and Zeiss Claras 500 UWF cameras. There are excellent transport links, with bus stops right outside and the main train station less than 20 minutes’ walk from the store.
Longwater
This store opened in March 2020 and sits within a large Sainsbury’s superstore on a busy retail park which houses M&S Foodhall, Sports Direct and The Range as well as several drive through restaurants. There are 4 optical test rooms, 1 of these serves as a dual room for audiology services provided by St Stephens Audiology Hub. Parking is free for customers within the retail park.
Pound Lane
Situated 3 miles from the centre of Norwich sits the Pound Lane store, right next door to a large Sainsburys superstore. This is a standalone store which opened in March 2022 so still looks and feels brand new. There are 3 optical test rooms and one of these is used as a dual room for hearcare services. The Pound Lane store serves as a spoke store to St Stephens Audiology Hub. There are excellent transport links; the store is just off the Norwich Ring Road and access to the A47 nearby. Parking is free to customers and there’s a bus stop outside the store.
Location
The Specsavers Norwich stores are situated within a beautiful part of Norfolk, which is full of history and plenty to see and experience locally. Norwich is extremely accessible to other parts of the country with its international airport, commuter links to Cambridge and train links that can get you from the centre of London to the Norwich high street in just 2 hours.
Several new city centre developments create relaxed and attractive environments that are populated with trees, furnished with seats and attractively paved for pedestrians and bus stops are located opposite the stores.

Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, the right person for this position will be confident, possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to succeed. You’ll be passionate about your job and enjoy a fast-paced environment. You’ll be willing to go the extra mile for customers and someone who encourages their team to do the same.
