* Risk Assessment: You’ll use your underwriting expertise to assess the risks associated with each policy, ensuring the right balance between offering attractive coverage to customers and managing risk for the business.
* Collaboration with the Team: You’ll work closely with your colleagues in the underwriting team to ensure consistency across the board and share your knowledge and insights.
* Technical Guidance: As an experienced underwriter, you’ll assist more junior team members, providing guidance and sharing best practices.
* Policy Development & Review: You’ll contribute to the development and review of policy wordings, ensuring clarity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Compliance: You’ll ensure that your underwriting decisions comply with internal processes, regulatory standards, and company policies.
* Client & Broker Communication: You may need to engage with clients or brokers to explain underwriting decisions or resolve complex queries.
* SME Insurance Knowledge: Your knowledge of SME insurance will be valuable in assessing risks and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
Key Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
* Experience in Underwriting: You’ll have solid underwriting experience, ideally within the SME insurance market.
* Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is essential to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Problem-Solving Skills: You’ll have the ability to assess complex risks and identify appropriate solutions.
* Communication Skills: You’ll need to communicate underwriting decisions clearly to clients, brokers, and colleagues.
* Knowledge of Underwriting Guidelines: You should understand underwriting guidelines and recognize when exceptions may need to be made.
* Adaptability: You’ll need to adapt quickly to changes in the fast-paced insurance industry.
* Cultural Fit: We’re looking for someone who shares our values of collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.
