Steelworks Estimator – Up to £60,000 – Hybrid Working – Northants Are you an experienced Estimator with expertise in architectural or structural steelwork? A well-established steelworks contractor, renowned for delivering high-quality metalwork solutions, is seeking a forward-thinking Estimator to join their dynamic team. Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of architectural and structural steelwork, including balconies, balustrades, staircases, canopies, and secondary steelwork for high-rise residential and commercial contractors nationwide. With a continuously expanding portfolio of main contract partners and a strong supply chain, this is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading name in the industry. The Role – Steelworks Estimator Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful Estimator will take full ownership of assigned estimate submissions, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and timely delivery. You will be responsible for: Preparing and submitting high-value tenders for architectural and structural steelwork projects. Reviewing engineering drawings and technical specifications to produce detailed and competitive cost estimates. Managing client expectations, attending estimating and pre-contract meetings as required. Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best pricing. Leading handover meetings to transition secured projects to the production team. Maintaining and developing strong relationships with clients, contractors, and consultants. Providing expertise in value engineering to optimize project efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The Ideal Candidate To excel in this role, you should have: Proven experience in pricing projects within the architectural metalwork or steelwork sectors. A strong commercial mindset and the ability to deliver accurate and timely estimates. Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing large-scale metalwork packages. The confidence and interpersonal skills to engage with clients, designers, and stakeholders at all levels. A deep understanding of construction processes and the ability to provide value engineering insights. Established contacts within the industry to leverage for securing new business opportunities.
