What you'll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
1. Work with the Commercial teams to build and deliver Budgets and Forecasts with an understanding of short and longer terms performance trends against the Budget and Forecast through weekly trade reviews and monthly performance analysis reviews. Identify & deliver Risks & Opportunities.
2. Identify cost out opportunities in our products and support the delivery of these projects through meticulous financial analysis and governance. Tracking & influencing inflation impacts, ensuring we pay the right prices to our suppliers and identifying areas of opportunity in our pricing in store.
3. Assist the commercial team with the management of commodities, open book models and Joint Business Plans development with our suppliers. Tracking and optimisation of supplier income and growth incentives. Working with the commercial teams to assess and advise on commercial plans around usage of space, price and promotional activity and track the performance of this plan.
4. Support the analysis and tracking of weekly and monthly Commercial performance and Month end / Quarter end reporting through the delivery of Commercial analysis and insights to the Head of Trade and the broader Commercial Finance team.
5. Work with the Shared Service Centre to optimise and improve processes that impact the Commercial Finance team, ensuring that Commercial Risks for the area are understood and clear action plans in place to manage / mitigate. Supporting in developing robust processes around pricing governance, approval of benefits tracking.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
1. Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CA or equivalent).
2. Commercial Business Partnering in a Retail or FMCG environment is preferred, with an understanding of sales to gross profit and a good commercial understanding of the business & market.
3. A strong influencer, with natural curiosity, who can provide commercial challenge alongside being a trusted business partner.
4. Experienced in Budgeting and forecasting, Business Case Appraisal and Management Accounts with Advanced Excel skills.
5. Ability to communicate with impact to senior management, business stakeholders and wider Finance teams.
