The Role:
Equitas are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Religious Education to lead the department and contribute to the school’s ongoing success. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Religious Education, have proven leadership skills, and be eager to inspire students to engage with complex ideas, ethics, and worldviews. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the direction of RE at the school and contribute to the development of a robust curriculum that aligns with the school’s values.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Religious Education department, overseeing curriculum planning, assessment, and student progress.
* Inspire and support a team of RE teachers to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of all students.
* Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and resources, incorporating a range of religious perspectives and ethical discussions.
* Monitor and evaluate the department’s effectiveness, analyzing data to drive improvement in teaching and learning outcomes.
* Liaise with other heads of departments and school leadership to integrate cross-curricular themes and promote a cohesive learning experience.
* Promote students' spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development in line with the school’s ethos and RE curriculum.
* Foster an environment of respect, tolerance, and open-mindedness within the classroom.
Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Religious Studies or a related field.
* Proven experience teaching Religious Education at KS3-KS5, with a record of raising attainment.
* Previous experience in a leadership role within a school setting (Head of Department, Deputy Head, or similar) is preferred.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with current educational practices in RE.
