About the role
Old Oak Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Planning Officer to join its Planning Enforcement and Compliance team. This role involves proactively addressing enforcement challenges within OPDC's area.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Planning Enforcement and Compliance and will manage a varied caseload of complex enforcement and appeal cases while providing leadership to the wider team.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Support the Head of Planning Enforcement and Compliance and other Planning Officers to ensure compliance with Section 106 agreements and planning conditions.
2. Lead on a range of enforcement cases, ensuring they are dealt with in accordance with agreed performance targets.
3. Manage own caseload of enforcement cases and provide support for evidence for Examinations and Public Inquiries.
4. Engage with the local community and key stakeholders on enforcement issues.
5. Draft briefings, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
6. Liaise with host boroughs and relevant agencies on planning enforcement matters.
Person Specification
Technical Requirements/Experience/Qualifications
1. Appropriate planning qualification and eligibility for RTPI membership.
2. Demonstrable experience in local authority planning enforcement.
3. Good understanding of the working environment of a local planning authority.
4. Understanding of the local, regional, and national planning policy context.
