Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Home
Salary :£14.10 per hour / £60 per sleep (2on 4off shift pattern)
Location: Skelmersdale, Lancashire
We are searching for a Deputy Manager to join our 3 bedded Children’s Residential Home in Skelmersdale
Your role will be to support the registered manager with the delivery of the day to day management of the home, ensuring delivery of a high quality level of care. You will manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager and ensure that all care planning, regulations, leadership requirements and needs of the children are met.

Exceptional Care is a therapeutic children’s service providing care and support to children and young people aged 8-17, from complex backgrounds, who display challenging behaviour and EBD. The service is an independent social care organisation with multiple residential units across the whole of the North West. The senior leadership team has been transformed to ensure the right people have oversight of the organisation.
Exceptional Care believes that consistency in care is paramount to children/young people with complex needs, to this end we are committed to developing and maintaining good communicative relationships with the child/young person.
Exceptional Care use a systemic therapeutic approach to support the nurture and care of our children. The systemic approach is rooted in attachment theory, and uses trauma informed approaches. We are currently introducing a comprehensive framework of assessment and outcome monitoring using the Secure Base Model.

Successful Candidates:
* Level 3 or 4 Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent
* 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting at senior level
* Full UK Manual Driving Licence
Responsibilities/Duties:
· Support the manager in all aspects of running the home and evidence that we are meeting the obligations set out in the children’s home quality standards 2015
· Assist the Managers in ensuring that each young person has their needs met through effective assessment and care planning. Review and monitor care plans/contribute to review reports as directed
· To take the lead in setting standards and evaluating achievements; to take a proactive role in securing improvements in the quality of services provided by Exceptional Care.
· Promote team development and effective team working.
· Facilitate and support young people in decision making. Promote choice and involvement in young person’s house meeting.
· Consistently apply strategies developed in response to challenging behaviours, and contribute to the review and development of any such strategies.
· Liaise with other agencies/professionals as necessary in conjunction with Managers.
· Record information about young people and ensure communication with Staff Members, to sign off all records at the end of each shift.
· Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with young peoples’ personal and financial accounting when auditing and dispensing petty cash.
· Participate and minute taking in Staff and young people’s meetings as and when required. Maintain appropriate records as directed
· Direct Staff Members in their duties in the absence of the Managers, ensuring that all required tasks are completed.
· Delegate tasks to Residential Child Care Workers/Team Leaders and monitor their effective implementation in conjunction with the Managers to a good standard.
· To ensure an effective induction programme for all new employees
· Timely supervision and appraisals for the staff team
· Undertake on-call duties as directed
· Adhere to all Company policies and procedures
