Job overview
The Business Manager in Pathology will be overseeing the financial and contractual functions of the pathology department. The Business Manager will work closely with the Heads of Service, Head of Operations, Pathology colleagues, Procurement, Finance and commissioning colleagues, to provide a robust and routine management function both for procured and commissioned services for pathology as well as oversight of key service developments and improvement schemes within Pathology.
The post holder will be responsible to ensure that routine contract management processes are in place and that regular meetings are scheduled with each of the main contractors so that value for money is assured. They will maintain oversight of the income and expenditure within Pathology against key contracts. Set up robust invoicing processes to ensure all income is being received and accounted for in the budget.
The post holder will be responsible for tracking progress on all service development business cases, capital developments and equipment replacement programmes across the Pathology Services. They will support the service leads in identifying purchasing opportunities, to generate efficiencies that support the overall divisional financial plans.
Main duties of the job
1. Manage the income & expenditure against key contracts.
2. Set up robust invoicing processes ensuring all income is being received & accounted for in the budget.
3. Oversight of Manage Service Contract performance/compliance.
4. Develop & update service specifications & price lists for SLAs/Contracts.
5. Support contractual processes as required; producing contract documentation & written records of contract meetings.
6. Monitor & analyse financial reports, identifying areas for cost savings & revenue growth/maximising income.
7. Support with purchasing opportunities, to generate efficiencies supporting overall divisional financial plans.
8. Provide improvement capability & capacity into priority schemes within the Service to support delivery e.g. the Divisional Efficiency Programme.
9. Track progress on service development business cases, capital developments & equipment replacement programmes across the service.
10. Ensure processes are in place for data extraction & invoice requests.
11. Utilise knowledge of supplier management, business acumen, commissioning & procurement processes and Trust Governance procedures to produce recommendations & guide and advise stakeholders.
