Roke is seeking a Bid Manager with proven experience and leadership in managing strategic opportunities, working in close collaboration with the Business Unit lead, Commercial, Project Manager, and other key stakeholders. The role directly contributes to the success of the Roke strategy within the business winning function. The Opportunity
To provide professional bid management within the Bid Team to work across a portfolio of opportunities, balancing the commercial and financial requirements to deliver winning bids and proposals. The role involves working closely with our Business Development and Client Manager teams to expand Roke's business supplying technology, expertise, and consultancy services to our customers, including the UK Government. To be successful, you must be proactive and customer-focused, be able to work collaboratively across a diverse team, and possess the skills to influence the wider bid team. The ability to remain calm under pressure while thriving in a fast-paced bidding environment to deliver winning business submissions is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead cross-functional teams delivering strategic bids, while also contributing to other assigned proposals and portal-based tender responses, including fast turnaround bids within existing framework contracts.
* Provide professional bid management and leadership, managing the bid process and following Roke best practices to deliver high-quality, business-winning submissions.
* Prepare bid plans, bid budget forecasting and monitoring, assurance reviews, and sign-off.
* Provide expertise to develop win strategies including leading and facilitating competitor analysis and challenge sessions, price to win analysis, and win theme development.
* Communicate effectively with all stakeholders including customers, members of the senior leadership team, bid and account teams, suppliers, and partners.
* Conduct assurance reviews of bid materials, preparing and presenting bids for internal bid approvals by senior leaders and in line with the Roke bid process.
* Assess bid team performance and identify learning points to develop and implement continuous improvement activities.
* Support the coaching, training, and development of the bid team and other functions to ensure best practices are maintained across the business.
* Contribute and support the maintenance of a central bid repository (knowledge base) of bid artefacts including case studies and proposal templates.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Substantial Bid and Proposal management experience.
* Understanding of bidding process best practices.
* Ability to work under pressure, to demanding deadlines.
* Experience of leading a portfolio of bids.
* Experience in Government procurement and framework bidding would be an advantage as would experience of working in a Defence or National Security field.
* High level of computer literacy is essential.
* A confident communicator, both verbally and written, with good presentation skills and the ability to interact with colleagues and customers at all levels.
