The Council are seeking a Corporate Debt Officer who is a motivated individual, committed to finding effective solutions for corporate debt processing. Ideally you will have knowledge of Council Tax, Housing Benefit Overpayments and debt recovery legislation however most importantly we want someone who is excellent at communicating and persuading.
Duties of the role
As an essential member of the Corporate Debt Team, you will be working in a varied and dynamic service committed to constantly improving the effectiveness of processes and the overall customer experience. Corporate debt recovery is increasingly important to ensure that the Council recovers all money owed therefore protecting the interests of local taxpayers. You will be dealing with customers on the phone and face to face in difficult situations and must be able to handle conflict and angry customers. You must be able to focus on the collection of money on a daily basis but also have an understanding of vulnerable customers who may need additional support and help.
Qualifications and skills required
To be successful in this role, you will need GCSE/A level qualifications or equivalent, be able to meet deadlines, have excellent communication skills, be able to problem solve, negotiate and be decisive.
