This role is in a specialist provision for children aged 7-19 who have experienced significant trauma and face social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
There is a strong focus on holistic and restorative practices, fostering empathy whenever possible. The school avoids punitive measures, and manual handling training is only used as a last resort.
A practical trial day will take place in the school to ensure the role is suitable for you. This is dependent on your availability to start ASAP or if you have a notice period and are looking for a January start.

You will receive extensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA Training. As an aspiring clinical psychologist, you will have the opportunity to explore areas of genuine interest and identify where your skills need enhancement over the course of 10 years of qualification.
The role involves working with secondary-aged students (11-16) who have EHCPs, including those with Autism, OCD, and varying levels of social anxiety.
This position combines physical work with a pragmatic approach to helping each child make academic progress relative to their context.
You may encounter some anti-social behavior, which is part of the role when assisting society's most vulnerable children. All training and support will be provided by the school through their excellent training system.
Various therapies and holistic processes are introduced, where even small progress is considered a success.
Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive Developmental Disorder are part of the spectrum of needs.
There is a real emphasis on engaging with students of diverse cognitive abilities, providing positive engagement, acceptance, and understanding that traditional talking therapy may not always be effective, requiring different approaches.
It is essential to give students objectives and as much independence as possible, especially for those in assisted living.
