We are looking for an ambitious Food Technologist to join our team. The role will involve ensuring that all products the company produces meet the necessary standards and comply with all relevant legislation and regulations.
Responsibilities:
* Day-to-day functions of the quality department and be a supportive member of the technical department by ensuring compliance with the company’s Food Safety, HACCP, Quality, GMP and H&S procedures.
* Responsible for quality checks on incoming materials, packaging, and finished product, carrying out routine material testing and checks, preparing samples for assessment, maintaining departmental records, reviewing external laboratory results, assisting in the investigation of product complaints, foreign body finds, and other potential food safety incidents.
* Responsible for training of HACCP CCPs and monitoring of CCPs within the factory.
* Support site Manufacturing team in ensuring compliance to appropriate GMPs for the site by reviewing, making recommendations and implementing appropriate changes.
* Carry out QA and QC checks and tasks in all areas including temperature, specification, weight, traceability and calibration.
* Conduct investigations into metal rejections or foreign bodies in the factory to identify the root cause and implement corrective action.
* Carry out investigations with regards to micro, over specifications to identify the root cause and implement corrective action both in relation to finished product and environmental micro investigations where appropriate.
* Coordination of activities to enable compliance to agreed standards for pest management & schedules and activities. Direct appropriate action through service providers.
* Ensure all relevant documentation and relevant site specific systems are updated and changes communicated in a timely and effective manner.
* Prepare for retail and BRC audits.
Qualifications:
Degree-level qualifications in a food science discipline and have at least 3 years relevant experience within a food industry environment - you must be able to demonstrate your knowledge and learning. You should have good analytical thinking skills, the ability to prioritise, good IT literacy, attention to detail, and be able to work in a logical and methodical manner. Qualifications including auditing, HACCP and Food Hygiene are highly desirable.
