About the Role:
As the Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work closely with both teachers and SENCOs to provide essential support to pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will play a key role in delivering targeted interventions, classroom assistance and emotional support to ensure every learner receives the guidance they need to thrive.
Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant (LSA):
* Support individual pupils and small groups to access the curriculum effectively.
* Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioural support strategies.
* Adapt learning activities to suit the needs of pupils with diverse learning styles.
* Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages pupil confidence and participation.
* Work closely with teachers to provide classroom support and prepare learning materials and resources.
* Help develop pupils’ social, emotional and communication skills.
* Promote independence and self-confidence in learners through structured support.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
Job Requirements of the Learning Support Assistant (LSA):
* Experience in working as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or similar role.
* A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or a willingness to work towards one).
* A strong understanding of SEND and inclusive education practices.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
* The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals.
* Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
