A Mainframe (MF) Architect specializes in designing, optimizing, and maintaining mainframe environments, ensuring scalability, performance, and security, while providing high-level support for technical issues. This position also focuses on designing comprehensive, end-to-end solutions across various technologies to meet specific business needs, integrating systems, and aligning with business goals. Customer-facing responsibilities include explaining the solution design, discussing technical architectures, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that solutions meet both technical and business requirements, as well as participating in presales activities.
What will you be doing:
1. Solution Design and Customer Engagement: Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs, develop tailored technical solutions, and present compelling proposals and demonstrations.
2. Technical Expertise and Collaboration: Provide technical guidance, stay updated on industry trends, and work closely with product and development teams to influence the product roadmap.
3. Documentation and Reporting: Document customer interactions and solution designs, and provide regular updates on pre-sales activities and feedback.
4. Architecture Design: Develop scalable, reliable, and efficient mainframe architectures. Ensure seamless communication and data exchange between mainframe and other systems.
5. Scalability and Performance: Design for high scalability and optimal performance.
6. Security: Implement security best practices for mainframe systems.
7. Monitoring and Logging: Set up comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
8. CI/CD: Establish continuous integration and deployment pipelines for mainframe applications.
9. Technology Stack Selection: Choose appropriate mainframe technologies and tools.
10. Collaboration and Leadership: Align architecture with business goals and technical requirements.
11. Software and Hardware Renewals: Manage renewals and updates for mainframe software and hardware.
12. Customer and Vendor Representation: Represent Atos in mainframe architectural discussions with customers and vendors. Participate in client meetings and other discussions as needed.
13. Cost Optimization: Implement cost-effective solutions for mainframe operations.
14. Project Coordination: Lead and coordinate mainframe-related projects and initiatives.
Technical Requirements:
* Understanding of IBM Mainframe Hardware/Software components/Products and Network Architecture.
* Design end-to-end Mainframe solutions for any new client/Existing client movement based on different requirements.
* Build HLDs and LLDs based on proposed solutions and Business cases.
* Provide Technical leadership and mentoring for any datacentre movement, Mainframe/DASD/VTS/Switch changes/SYSPLEX at architect level.
* Thorough understanding of IBM Licensing, Charging, MSU, MLC, FLATS, OTC, S&S, PA, TTO, CMP and VU’s concepts.
* Generate Cost models, forecasting and managing the IBM Mainframe Hardware and Software Billings for IBM and ISVs and build the business cases as needed.
* Experience of software renewal management, Review BOMs and dealing with Vendors for Hardware and Software price negotiations.
* Thorough knowledge and Implementation of SCRTs, SYSPLEX, Peaks, Burst capacity, Soft and Hard capping for LPAR/Group.
