Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex systems, following best practices in Defence acquisition.
Collaborate closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure all project/product requirements are fulfilled.
Prepare and present design review materials to internal and external stakeholders.
Support subcontractor management and review the materials and products provided.
Develop, maintain, and control engineering documentation, including requirements, system architectures, test plans, and bill of materials.
Provide technical expertise across projects and contribute to business development.
Conduct feasibility studies and produce technical reports.
Assist in the development and continuous improvement of internal engineering processes.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have experience in early stages of the system engineering lifecycle, focusing on:
Requirement decomposition.
Logical, functional, and physical architectures.
Proficiency with Systems Modelling Language (SysML) using Enterprise Architect.
Ability to develop physics-based mathematical models to support system development (MatLab experience preferred).
Essential Skills and Specialist Knowledge:
Strong understanding of synthetic training solutions within the defence sector; knowledge of Naval defence platforms/systems is highly desirable.
Proven experience in specifying, designing, developing, and implementing complex systems, including end-to-end management of system specifications.
Previous experience in a Systems Engineering role.
Thorough knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle and related principles.
Ability to understand and interpret customer requirements in an operational context.
Proficient in system architecture development using appropriate tools and modelling languages (e.g., SysML).
Experience in Integration, Test, and Verification, including presenting verification outcomes to stakeholders.
Knowledge of agile methodologies, tools, and techniques.
Experience in writing technical reports and presenting them to both internal and external audiences.
Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes, tools, and techniques within a Defence framework.
