My client, a main civil and utilities contractor, is looking for a CAD Technician to support our team in delivering cutting-edge electricity infrastructure design—from initial concepts all the way through to as-laid records. Based from the Hampshire depot, and working alongside the Project Manager and Commercial Manager, you will work across the southern region on multi-discipline projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assist the Engineers in delivering electricity infrastructure design drawings, from concept to as-laid records.
2. Produce the cable routes (based on the DNO standard) for Framework projects from sketches to as-laid drawings.
3. Prepare 2D CAD electrical/civil design drawings for new electrical power systems projects consisting of:
1. Geographic High Voltage cable routes.
2. Geographic drawings showing the location of existing utility infrastructure.
3. Multi-core electrical wiring diagrams.
4. Electrical schematic diagrams.
5. Single Line Diagrams.
6. Substation layouts.
7. Substation cross-section drawings.
8. Substation building detail drawings as per the engineers’ comments.
4. Obtain Ordnance Survey Tiles.
5. Undertake Utility searches, Adopted Highway Searches, and Legal Searches to assist with the creation of cable route drawings and Legal plans.
6. Produce as-laid drawings from site survey information.
7. Produce site layout drawings with setting out coordinates (obtained from OS Background tile).
8. Ensure drawings are accurate, compliant, and delivered within agreed timescales.
9. Offer full drawing support to clients and the design team.
10. Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external clients.
11. Maintain drawing record database.
12. Maintain best practice in undertaking drawings.
13. Attend to the sites to record GPS coordinates when required.
Skills & Experience
1. A detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment.
2. Strong experience with CAD design.
3. Experience with 3D Revit/AutoCAD would be beneficial.
4. The ability to ensure all designs are compliant, accurate, and meet deadlines.
5. A team player with a positive attitude and a passion for delivering high-quality work.
