Due to increased project demand, our client, an established and successful mechanical services provider to the construction industry across the UK & Ireland, have an immediate need for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their team. Working across a variety of commercial and industrial projects, this client provides mechanical services, including plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, steam and processing infrastructure to a wide range of sectors such as education, residential and healthcare. The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems in various construction projects. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, construction methods, and cost estimation techniques. The Mechanical Estimator will work closely the team to ensure that estimates are comprehensive and aligned with project requirements and client expectations. Key Responsibilities: Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications. Evaluate and select appropriate materials and methods based on project specifications and industry standards. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options. Prepare and submit detailed PQQ and bid proposals Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing. Ensure all bid documents are complete, accurate, and submitted on time. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure estimates are aligned with project goals and timelines. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project kick-off meetings to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements. Maintain comprehensive records of all estimation activities, including correspondence, bid documents, and cost analysis. Prepare and present detailed cost reports to management and clients as required Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties in the estimation process. Develop contingency plans and allowances to mitigate identified risks. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting mechanical systems in construction. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance estimation skills and knowledge. Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical estimating within the construction industry. Tendered and procured packages £2 million and above Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and industry standards. Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
