YMCA Newark & Sherwood are looking for our next Nursery Apprentice to join our Early Years team.
If you are looking to start a career in childcare in a purpose built nursery with outstanding facilities, this is the perfect role
for you!
Do you think you can be:
Caring?
Patient?
Responsible?
Able to follow instructions?
Fun and enthusiastic?
Calm in a loud environment?
We will support you to achieve your level 3 Early Years Workforce qualification and develop your practical skills and experience
across each age group in our Nursery.
If you are passionate about working with children, love getting involved with activities but most importantly want to care and
nurture the children, we want to hear from you!
You will work as part of our friendly, welcoming and highly experienced Nursery Team, supporting the Early Years Educators and
Nursery Assistants. You will be able to learn from your colleagues who have all undertaken their level 3 so will be able to help
and advise you in every way.
By the end of your apprenticeship, you can expect to feel confident in the following areas:
Assisting the nursery team in delivering the highest quality care for all children.
Ensuring all daily routines for the babies and children are adhered to.
Ensure the rooms are safe, clean and welcoming.
Ensuring excellent customer service is provided and you are able to speak to parents and care givers.
Ensure high quality inclusive childcare is continually provided.
Provide efficient administration, collect required data and maintain appropriate and relevant records as required by regulatory
bodies.
Support the Nursery Manager with any additional duties required.
About You
No matter what stage of life you are at, you will be looking to start your career in childcare!
Whether you have just finished your studies or you might be looking to change your career, we are looking for someone who is
motivated and excited to take that next step towards working in a nursery.
If you have a minimum GSCE level 4/ grade C in English and Maths, this would be ideal, but as long as you are keen and able to
study your level 3 Early Years Workforce qualification, your GSSE’s would not a barrier to starting.
You will be given time off to study as part of your working week but also you will be learning “on the job” as you will be
learning from our existing team every day.
We work a 4 day week within our nursery which means you will work 4 days between Monday to Friday and have 1 day off per week. You
will work 40 hours per week, 7.30am to 6pm each day.
If you have any experience of babysitting, working with children in volunteer groups such as Brownies or Beavers or maybe you have
done your work experience within another nursery or a school, this would all be really helpful to showcasing your desire to want
to work with you children.
This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check (paid for by YMCA) and registration with the DBS Update Service. We
reserve the right to withdraw this role before the closing date should we be able to appoint to the role.
