IT Platform Administrator – Supporting Critical NHS Infrastructure Across the Nation
Working Conditions:
* This is a hybrid role based at 7 Wellington Pl, Whitehall Rd, Leeds LS1 4AP, offering the flexibility to work from home most days, with an expectation to attend the office 2- days per week.
* Permanent position, 37.5 hours per week.
Job Purpose:
As a IT Platform Administrator within the FDP Service Integration team, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the Federated Data Platform across NHS organisations nationwide. This role requires a proactive approach to managing platform health, responding to alerts, and supporting both internal and external teams. You will be responsible for key administrative, reporting, and monitoring functions critical to the platform’s continuous and secure operation, aligning with NHS standards and industry best practices.
The Federated Data Platform:
NHS England’s Data and Analytics Directorate is driving the transformation to put patients in control of their data, support clinicians, decision-makers, and researchers with real-time, high-quality data, and empower the NHS Data Community to leverage their skills for high-value opportunities. The NHS relies on data every day to manage patient care and plan services, but it is often stored in systems that don’t communicate with each other, creating burdens for both patients and staff. The Federated Data Platform connects existing NHS systems, allowing each Trust and Integrated Care Board to manage their own customised version, enhancing data integration and care coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform technical and operational administration to maintain, support, and configure the FDP platform and associated technologies.
* Ensure adherence to IG and security protocols, continuously monitoring platform health and escalating issues as needed.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of processes for platform administration, reporting, and monitoring.
* Develop dashboards and reporting tools to assess platform performance, usage, and SLA/KPI compliance.
* Engage in service improvement activities, aligning platform capabilities with regulatory and organisational demands.
* Participate in the testing and impact assessment of platform changes to ensure seamless operational delivery.
* Collaborate across the programme and NHS teams, promoting best practices, and contribute to training and guidance development.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in technical platform administration within a complex organisational setting.
* Demonstrated competence in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining large technology platforms.
* Experience in business intelligence reporting and working across multiple teams and suppliers.
* Familiarity with SaaS/cloud-based technologies and adherence to data protection and security standards.
* Ability to provide end-user support and engage effectively with stakeholders across disciplines.
Desirable Experience:
* Professional IT or user support experience.
* Awareness of ITIL Service Management best practices.
* Knowledge of the NHS and complex data analysis.
* Familiarity with data platforms and information systems development.
Qualifications:
* Degree-level education or equivalent experience in a relevant technical area.
