In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.
To work within the cyclic and static test laboratories of the Test and Development department at SSGB's Cwmbran test facility. Carry out cyclic reliability, abusive, and FAR/CS 25.561 static testing on new and existing products as they are developed within the business.
Key responsibilities & duties:
1. Industry Knowledge:
• In-depth knowledge of the testing requirements of Safran Seat products.
• In-depth knowledge of aerospace industry standard static and cyclic test methods, covering hand calculations, test set-ups, data analysis.
• Working knowledge of regulations FAR/CS 25 (related parts), SAE recommend practices (e.g. ARP 5526) and Airframer specifications.
2. Organisation / Planning:
• Manages self, liaises with senior members, and supports other test engineers of the Test and Development department to ensure tasks are completed to requirements on time.
3. Technical:
• Conduct and document cyclic reliability, abusive, and static (showing compliance to FAR/CS 25.561 where applicable) tests for SSGB's aircraft interior products.
• Review and understand test plans provided by the compliance department.
• Design, construct, and review suitable static test set-ups to carry out the tests detailed therein; requiring consideration of the strength of the test article and the test set-up.
• Design, construct, and review cyclic test apparatus to automate the repeated function of complex manual and powered systems through the use of PLC programming, actuators, sensors and switches etc.
• Monitor, record, and process test data using the appropriate instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Support other test engineers and Head of Test as required.
• Discuss and review test set-ups / deviations with visiting ARs and test witnesses.
• Has an in-depth working knowledge of the systems used by the Safran Seats GB Test and Development department, and can train other team members appropriately.

Candidate skills & requirements
1. Minimum - Degree-level qualifications (e.g. Higher National Certificate) or comparable experience within the aerospace industry - Essential
2. 4 years or greater working in Aerospace or comparable industry - Essential
3. Organisational and planning skills with ability to manage and meet deadlines and work effectively with different functions and levels of responsibility - Essential
4. Experience of working to industry standards and codes. Knowledge of Part 25 (EASA/FAA) and Boeing / Airbus specifications. Knowledge of ACs, ARPs and Aerospace Standards - Essential
5. Review, interpret and implement static and cyclic test plans to defined requirements - Essential
6. Good understanding of mechanical structures and load paths - Essential
7. Defining new standards in static and cyclic tests methods - Essential
8. Working knowledge of Pneumatic & Hydraulic systems - Essential
9. Able to prepare and review concise technical reports, and manipulate spreadsheet data - Essential
10. Experience in utilisation and calibration of various types of test instrumentation - Essential
11. PLC programming experience (e.g. CX programmer / Omron) - Essential
12. Proficient in root cause analysis (4D/8D/Ishikawa) - Essential
