We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Workshop Controller to play a key role in our continued success. About the Role As a Workshop Controller at Steer Automotive Group, you will oversee the daily operations of our busy workshop, ensuring all vehicle repairs and maintenance are completed efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards. Your leadership will be essential in managing a team of skilled technicians, coordinating workflow, and facilitating communication between the workshop and the front-of-house staff. Key Responsibilities Workflow Coordination : Manage the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring a smooth workflow and timely completion of all repairs and services. Job Allocation : Assign tasks to technicians based on their skills and experience to maximize efficiency and resource utilization. Quality Control : Conduct quality checks to ensure all repairs meet company, manufacturer, and industry standards. Communication : Act as the liaison between service advisors and technicians, providing customers with accurate updates on the status of their vehicles. Health and Safety Compliance : Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and promote safe working practices within the workshop. Inventory Management : Oversee stock levels and assist the parts team in ordering necessary parts and supplies to maintain seamless operations. Staff Training and Development : Mentor new staff, identify training needs, and foster a positive, productive work environment. About You You should have a solid understanding of the automotive repair industry, ideally with hands-on experience as an MET, Panel, or Paint Technician in an accident repair setting, coupled with supervisory experience. Additionally, you will bring: A strong technical background with comprehensive knowledge of vehicle systems and repairs. Exceptional organizational and leadership skills. The ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and risk assessments. Proficiency in using workshop management software and other relevant computer applications.
