Mechanical Maintenance Manager - Hard Services Provider - Essex, Romford - Up to 65K
One of our long-standing clients is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Manager to work as part of their busy estates team to help service and maintain one of their most important contracts based in Romford. They are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager who will be able to provide first-class customer service and be able to organise, manage, and motivate their engineering team, as well as support the senior management. The role will also report directly to the Head of Estates, with whom you will be working closely on a day-to-day basis.
Hours of work
Monday to Friday - 08:00 am to 17:00 pm
Key duties & responsibilities
1. Control of all mechanical services, together with management of all associated engineering contracts.
2. Manage all statutory compliance.
3. Control of all building services, infrastructure, maintenance, and repairs.
4. Assist with project management of any building refurbishment projects.
5. Ensure that all plant, backup, and monitoring systems are maintained in good functioning order at all times, including the testing of all essential systems on a regular basis and in accordance with any relevant legislation.
6. Control of trouble-shooting engineering support.
7. Day-to-day support and adjustment of infrastructure as required, including liaison with user groups, preparation of documentation for changes, approved appointment of contractors, and site supervision.
8. Control of all relevant outsourced contracts.
9. Ensure all procedures are adhered to by all relevant contractors and in accordance with current legislation.
10. Ensure frequent checks are carried out to ensure cost-effectiveness against market trends and that value for money is realised for all services.
11. Chair regular update meetings with all contract managers relevant to services provided.
12. Management of mechanical-related incidents/outages.
13. Implement plans and actions through your leadership skills to identify and deliver additional work opportunities and technical solutions.
14. Provide technical guidance and support as required to ensure mechanical systems are maintained to a high standard and defects are swiftly identified and rectified.
15. Effective coordination of available resources to achieve technical and innovative solutions.
16. Lead the team to achieve sustainability objectives to improve energy consumption through operational enhancement, whilst seeking out efficient technologies and scoping proposals for consideration.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Recognised apprenticeship and fully mechanically qualified to recognised level (e.g., C&G, HNC/HND).
2. Proven background in a hard services maintenance role.
3. Previous experience and involvement in managing contractors.
4. Experience of working within estate environments, hospitals, healthcare.
5. A strong and committed team player capable of prioritising and solving problems often under pressure, utilising innovative solutions.
6. Must be a team player committed to working in a quality and professional environment.
7. Strong people management skills.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
