Job overview
We have a rare opportunity for an administrator to join the Dalton and Ulverston District nursing team. The post is for 15 hours working the set days of Thursday and Friday to complement our existing administrator.
The administrator role is paramount for the service. You will answer the telephone, complete non-clinical administrative duties and lead with inputting data for our essential audits and spreadsheets. You will work within a very supportive, experienced and friendly professional team and have senior nurse support to triage the referrals into the service. This is a brilliant opportunity to experience working in a team and develop knowledge on NHS computer systems and processes. You will have access to training opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge.
We need someone who is proactive, positive and able to work in an adaptable environment.
We encourage interested candidates to contact the service for informal discussions.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for providing a comprehensive administrative support service.
This involves telephone contact with staff and patients, utilising a variety of IT packages, notes/file preparation, inputting patient data, attending meetings, taking minutes, preparing spreadsheets and audit information, archiving patient notes, photocopying and scanning. Ordering patient equipment via community equipment store and NHS supplies.
Act as main point of contact for patients/relatives/carers and other health care professionals, taking messages, signposting callers for non-clinical advice as appropriate, ensuring adherence to Caldecott guidelines, and communicating in a compassionate and empathic but assertive manner as appropriate.
Provide information to patients regarding community appointments and directing queries to the correct source.
You will be liaising with the team members as appropriate to ensure effective use of clinical time.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
