Doncaster Council’s Public Health team are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for Public Health to be part of its Healthy Places Team. The link between health and the environment we live in has a strong evidence base, and this post will be at the forefront of developing sustainable and innovative approaches to provide the right conditions for residents to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. The successful candidate will work with different council departments, communities and external partners to identify opportunities that will reduce health inequalities in Doncaster by developing healthy places that reduce inequity and contribute to improving the wider determinants of health.
The post-holder will be responsible for leading on, and contributing to elements of a varied portfolio across the Healthy Places theme and therefore will be comfortable working in an agile, responsive and flexible environment.
Established portfolio areas the successful applicant will be responsible for developing further are:
1. Supporting a whole systems approach to influence the provision of high-quality homes and environments that will protect and promote residents’ physical, mental and social wellbeing across Doncaster.
2. Working with colleagues across the Local Authority to promote the 12 Town and Country Planning Association Healthy Home Principles and their importance in improving health and wellbeing through high-quality housing.
3. Leading a co-ordinated, evidence-based approach to the warm homes agenda across the LA and wider partners and stakeholders ensuring Public Health input at policy level.
4. Working with local, regional and national colleagues to share best practice.
There will also be opportunity to work across the broader Healthy Places portfolio, supporting and deputising for the Theme Lead in further developing both the Wider and Commercial Determinants of Health.
