As an ICT Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our ICT infrastructure and providing technical assistance to our staff. Formed in 2003, Tarian Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) is part funded by the Home Office, Welsh Government and the three Southern Wales Police Forces: South Wales, Gwent and Dyfed-Powys. The ROCU is a multi-disciplinary team made up of police officers and staff seconded from the three forces. The lead force for the region is South Wales Police.
Tarian operates across Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Newport, Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taff, the Vale of Glamorgan, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Powys.
With over 17 specialist units and capabilities, the teams within Tarian are dedicated to disrupting and dismantling Serious Organised Crime Groups across the region.
Working with partners such as the National Crime Agency (NCA), National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), City of London Police (CoLP), UK Border Force, HM Revenue and Customs (HRMC), the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the Welsh Government, TARIAN’s mission is to contribute towards a safer and more secure environment in Southern Wales.
The role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ICT Operations Manager to join our dynamic IT team.
To provide leadership, management and specialist advice for enterprise scale delivery of Information, Communications and Technology with responsibility for 1st to 3rd line implementation, operations, support, maintenance, resilience, recovery and compliance across a diverse range of technologies that underpin mission critical and operationally sensitive 24/7 emergency services and systems.
Purpose:
* To ensure that the technical infrastructure is robust, efficient, and meticulously maintained to ensure total business continuity within our 24/7 organisation.
* To develop, implement and maintain those technical infrastructure services to ensure that the strategic priorities and compliance to stringent operating standards including cyber security needs of the organisation are met.
* To provide the technical resources that support both ‘day-to-day’ functions and long-term project led activities.
* To ensure that SWP’s technical infrastructure can be developed in response to the ever-evolving technical demands of the organisation.
Responsibilities:
* To develop, install, maintain, and retire various aspects of enterprise scale infrastructure, paying particular attention to wider business impact when planning maintenance and development activities.
* To manage a large team of diverse Infrastructure technology specialists, consisting of Network, Perimeter, Storage, Servers & Devices, and various devolved units with distinct IT provisions.
* To identify, propose, and implement opportunities for the continuous improvement of ICT infrastructure, bringing mutual benefit to the force and its partners.
* To manage a team of technical specialists and all activities that lie within their area of responsibility.
* To provide specialist advice and guidance on a range of complex and/or escalated technical issues.
Requirements:
* Must possess any of the following:
* Experience of managing at least two of the following technical disciplines:
* Must have proven experience of managing a large team of technical specialists.
* Must demonstrate substantial experience of leading technological change at an infrastructure level.
* Must have proven experience of managing day-to-day ICT operations.
* Must be skilled in system integration and a sound knowledge of major ICT platforms.
* Proven experience of managing 2nd to 3rd line incident and fault resolution through to Problem and Critical Incident Management.
Where you’ll fit in:
The ICT Ops Manager role will manage a Team of technical specialists working alongside senior ICT Managers for Technical Delivery, Technical Standards, Service Delivery and Technical Programme Management reporting to the Head of ICT and act as the technical bridge between the Senior Management Team of TARIAN & Counter Terrorism Wales.
