My client (nursery) in Hornchurch, London is seeking a Nursery Deputy Manager to work full time.
Please only apply if you have a minimum level 3 qualification in a UK recognised early years qualification and have have a minimum of room leader experience.
main duties and responsibilities:
1. To work with the manager to develop the nursery in accordance with the framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
2. To be the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring that all policies are kept up to date and any safeguarding concerns are reported in line with the policies.
3. To take responsibility and coordinate the planning, monitoring and evaluation of the work of the nursery to ensure systems are in place to produce monitoring information
4. To work in conjunction with the manager for the management and development of the day care provision
5. To monitor and evaluate staff’s ability to motivate and progress children’s development through planning, observations and profiles in accordance with EYFS and Every Child Matters
6. Work with the manager to recruit, support and supervise staff employed at the nursery and ensure the fulfilment of contractual obligations. This will include in-house training and team meetings with other partner agencies as appropriate
7. To undertake one to ones and appraisals with the team working with the manager
8. To provide support and ensure that all staff, volunteers and students working in the nursery comply with all relevant policies and procedures
9. To review and update all policies and procedure with the manager and informing the team of changes
10. To ensure good communication between staff, parents and other outside agencies and professionals, to ensure that the service reflects changes in the evolving programme
11. To ensure the maintenance of consistently high standards in early education and childcare, using methods as required by the nursery manager. To support the manager to develop and maintain systems which support quality standards and ensure a coherent and systematic approach to planning and delivery of quality provision
12. To supervise, monitor and evaluate practice and provision provided for children with special educational needs, by the appointed SENCO
13. To provide leadership to the nursery team, ensuring effective team working, communication and training and development of all staff
14. To ensure that individual professional standards are maintained and that there is a full compliance with policy and procedural guidelines, including child protection, safeguarding and confidentiality
15. To partake in, and contribute to all aspects of staff training and development relevant to the role and function of the nursery
16. When needed, to be involved in the collection of fees and communicate with parents and carers with regards to late payment
17. With the nursery manager, to oversee the efficient sustainable upkeep of the nursery in terms of maintenance, equipment, furnishings and budgeting
18. Observe and operate the organisation’s practice guidelines, systems, procedures and policies fully
19. Working in partnership with parents and carers, encouraging them to be active partners in the continuing process of their children’s education
20. To work with and support other staff and colleagues from other agencies to provide a joined up service which meets the holistic needs of the children and their families
21. To attend appropriate meetings identified by the line manager, liaise and plan effectively for these
22. To take full responsibility in the absence of the nursery manager
23. To cover ratios as and when required
24. To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as required from time to time.
