Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Neuro-Rehab team based at Colchester Hospital. We are an established and respected multi-disciplinary outpatient and community team providing long-term management for people with a variety of neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Motor Neurone Disease and traumatic brain injury. The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, a Specialist Nurse, and Rehabilitation Assistants. We work closely with many other agencies including the voluntary sector to provide person centred care. The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator with knowledge and experience of working with people with neurological conditions/ community working. The post is based in the Neurological Rehabilitation Department at Colchester General Hospital. Due to the community working and community clinics a car owner and driver is essential. Main duties of the job Main duties of the job To be responsible for providing specialist assessment, treatment, and advice to patients with highly complex conditions in primary and secondary care settings. To carry out risk assessments and provide specialist advice to other members of the multi-disciplinary team as well as members of all other teams on specialist aspects of manual handling in relation to individual patient care and treatment of neurology patients. To ensure appropriate integrated pathways of care and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies both internal and external to the Trust as required. To be competent to work as an autonomous practitioner managing own workload in neurology, including patients with highly specialist needs. To participate in delivering specialist training and supervision of junior staff, assistants, and students. To deputise for Clinical Leads in their absence.
