We are now looking for Support Workers / Intervenors to join our Intervenor Service in the North London area, working across various locations such as Waltham Cross & Watford.
We will Provide 1:1 support to children and adults who have been born with sight and hearing impairments – known as congenital Deafblindness.
Intervenors promote personal and social development whilst encouraging independence through enabling access to activities.
You will receive specialist training in how to support individuals that have dual-sensory impairments, often combined with other disabilities. So you do not require any existing professional care experience!
It is essential for you to have a full UK license with the use of your own vehicle.
We are currently recruiting for bank/relief Intervenor's. There may be an opportunity for permanent roles where required across the service, based on the needs of the individual/’s we support. The following hours are currently available in North London, but may be subject to change. You can ask the team more about Bank/Relief work at interview.
(Child) Waltham Cross – 4 hours per week
We have a young child requiring support twice a week for 2hrs per visit. We would be supporting the child to develop their communication to aid expressing their wants and needs and building on their understanding of their world around them. Are you interested in using play, intensive interaction and fun to support this young child.
(Child and Adults) Watford – 16 hours per week
Child – Do you have a flare for arts and crafts, role play and dance, if you do we have a young child to match you too who requires 4hrs support at weekends and during the school holidays in the Watford area.
Adult – Would you like to support an adult to access their local community, attend their work experience and develop their life skills ready for the next stages of life. If so, we have an individual in the Watford area looking for support once a week for 4hrs.
Child – We have a young child in the Rickmansworth area requiring 2 visits per week for 2hrs each time. Are you interested in delivering sensory based sessions using various light and sound equipment and tactile toys to deliver sensory stories. We will be supporting this child to engage in various adapted sensory based activities through intensive interaction and focusing on developing their communication. If this sounds like something you are interested in and able to offer an element of fun with, we would like to hear from you.
Adult – We have a second adult who experiences the world through tactile and sensory experiences who requires support for 4hr per week either for one visit or two visits per week each for 2hrs.
This role might include supporting people with:
1. Day to day activities led by the person you'll be supporting.
2. Enabling an independent lifestyle.
3. To support individuals within their homes to access a variety of different activities based around theuir sensory needs, communication preferences and interests.
4. Personal care and hygiene.
5. Going into the community for shopping, social activities or other trips.
