Job Overview:
Following a period of significant growth, Connex is seeking to recruit a Head of Sales to develop and implement an ambitious business growth strategy, delivering overall revenue growth and developing key relationships with target clients. The role will require the individual to have experience within the construction or related sectors in submitting bids to meet specification requirements and managing a sales and marketing team to achieve sales targets and profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Senior Management:
1. Be an effective member of the senior management team in the business and co-ordinate with other department leads ensuring the delivery of an exceptional level of customer service;
2. Work in partnership with all Connex and Reg-Gen Group Directors to further develop and achieve the strategic goals of the business.
Market Understanding and Opportunity Identification:
1. Actively research, track and report on key market trends related to the Modular and Bathroom Pods markets to identify new market development opportunities in target regions;
2. Proactively identify and suggest new market and product development opportunities based on clear and validated market information and customer feedback.
Sales Strategy:
1. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will develop and implement a business growth strategy for the business ensuring revenue and margin targets are achieved;
2. Build and maintain relationships with contractors, architects, estimators, and industry professionals;
3. Effectively manage relationships with key current and past customers to identify upcoming and planned new projects.
Marketing:
1. Ensure the development and implementation of an effective marketing plan in coordination with the Group marketing team to support the growth of the Connex brand;
2. Identify and represent the company at relevant industry trade events, trade shows and conferences;
3. Develop a proactive sales prospecting and lead generation process to target new business development opportunities in ROI, GB and selected export markets;
4. Foster a culture of energy and enthusiasm amongst the sales and customer service team in proactively managing our customers;
5. Ensure the company CRM system is updated and managed across the sales and customer service team.
Bids and Commercials:
1. Manage the sourcing and tracking of new projects on selected sector portals;
2. Develop and submit tender documentation and preparing quotations to a high standard;
3. Manage the review, development and negotiation of contractual and commercial details of projects at pre-fabrication stage.
People and Team Management:
1. Provide clear direction to the sales, estimating and customer service team and manage and motivate the team;
2. Set the standard and example for the sales, estimating and customer service team in exhibiting the company values;
3. Manage the performance, development and recruitment for the sales, marketing and estimating team.
Performance Reporting:
1. Report on key overall sales, margin and unit sales performance and forecasts on a monthly basis to the MD and Board;
2. Develop and update performance dashboards for presentation at monthly management meetings.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
1. At least 5 years’ experience and a proven track record of developing a sales strategy and achieving sales results in a senior management role;
2. Experience of reporting on sales performance against agreed metrics;
3. A good technical knowledge of the specification and bid process;
4. Experience in developing and agreeing commercial terms with customers and contractors;
5. Experienced in managing a sales team and their performance;
6. Previous experience of contributing to the development of a marketing plan;
7. Experience of sales prospecting activity in GB & ROI;
8. Strong negotiation skills;
9. Excellent people and communication skills;
10. A strong focus on providing the best customer service experience;
11. Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines;
12. Confidence to represent Connex and promote their products;
13. Enthusiasm and desire for ongoing training;
14. A good knowledge of construction industry practice and health & safety regulations;
15. Proficient use of the Microsoft office suite and experience of using a CRM system;
16. Full driving license required;
17. Educated to degree level or similar qualification.

Location: Bessbrook, Newry, Co. Down
Hours of Work: 8:00-17:00 Monday-Friday with hybrid working considered
