About this opportunity: We’re looking for an Android Team Manager to join our Segments & Propositions Digital Experience (SPDE) lab in Leeds. Mass Affluent is the segment of customers with between £50,000 and £5 million in investable assets. We have close to three million Mass Affluent customers, and we are working hard to create greenfield personalised and tailored offering to ensure a beautiful banking experience. We want to provide a seamless digital experience, with the right products and services at our customers’ fingertips, but our face-to-face, telephone and secure messaging remain a vital part of our service. As part of our Leeds based team, you will lead an established mobile team evolving our Digital Channels (native mobile, web, Internet Banking). This is an excellent opportunity for a driven candidate who can provide hands-on engineering leadership and expertise to a full-stack mobile app team. You will be passionate and experienced in designing and delivering scalable mobile applications API platforms. What do we need to see from applicants? As a minimum to be considered we’ll need to see evidence of the following in your CV’s: Proven experience in leading software engineering projects within large, distributed systems. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse teams on a shared vision. Proven experience of modern application and software development approaches including automated testing, test driven development, continuous integration, pair programming, code review and version control Proficiency in Kotlin, as well as a strong knowledge in Jetpack Compose Solid understanding of clean architecture, design patterns (MVP, MVVM, MVI) and principles (SOLID, DRY) Confidence to express their own opinions and be pragmatic about modifying them when appropriate Demonstrated experience collaborating with Product and Design colleagues to drive outcomes for customers Experience of these would be useful: JS/Native Bridging Push notifications Understanding of common mobile security risks and corresponding mitigations Analytics and performance monitoring frameworks Cloud and micro-services What will you be doing with us? Specialising in Android, you will lead a full-stack feature team of mobile, API and quality engineers with a focus on predictable delivery and engineering excellence. Collaborate with fellow leads, solution architects, UI/UX designers, and product owners to define roadmaps, technical designs and unblock delivery. Lead by example by being a hands-on contributor to the codebase and providing oversight and feedback via pull requests. Demonstrate leadership for mobile architecture and API and micro-service design with deep knowledge in all aspects of Android development Provide line-management and personal development support for engineering team members Develops tactical plans for optimisation of resources and assets being managed within a given area or department.
