Senior Nurse- Safer Staffing, Band 7 (22.5 hours a week)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to apply for a secondment or fixed term role of Senior Nurse- Safer Staffing within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As Senior Nurse - Safer Staffing, you will be responsible for the overall clinical and operational delivery of the organisation's acuity and dependency safer staffing tools across the organisation. You will be involved in continued development and improvement of the safer staffing agenda and be a visible presence to all departments.

Main duties of the job
You will work together with the Associate Chief Nurse and Lead Nurse towards shared goals for workforce planning and development. The candidate will be required to demonstrate leadership, management and communication skills. Ideally the applicant will have recent experience working at a senior level and possess some knowledge in the application of the Safer Staffing tools, Optima, change management, and feel confident to influence practice with all levels of staff. You will provide senior expertise, utilising safer staffing evidence-based tools and up-to-date relevant national guidance for safer staffing within nursing.
Job responsibilities
The position is part time, 22.5 hours per week, offered as a secondment or fixed term until December 2025. Days and hours can be flexible within the working week. You will be expected to travel between both GRH and CGH sites, which will increase in frequency during months of data collection.
Person Specification
Qualifications/Experience
* Active registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse/Midwife
* Master's Degree level education or equivalent level of experience
* Experience using e-roster systems and understands good roster management
* Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of SafeCare and Safer Staffing principles using a triangulated approach
* Excellent presentational, communication and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of using Model Hospital to benchmark with others
* Safe Staffing Fellowship or equivalent training / qualification
* Evidence of development and evaluation of training resources
* Well-developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams, and have them understand the Trust's and your performance expectations
