The role
We are looking for an experienced Jointer's Mate who will assist the Cable Jointer in carrying out jointing activities and ensuring that activities on all electricity networks are installed in a safe and professional manner, to a high standard and in accordance with RAMS. The basic salary is between £22,000 - £33,280 plus paid travel time and regular overtime making OTE £45,000+

You'll have a proven track record of:
* Carrying out and accurately record formal risk assessments of the workplace and escalate risk factors appropriately, under supervision
* Carrying out works within the public adopted highway (having correct qualifications to do so)
* Review and understand work instructions before any work commencement either through plans, drawings and written or verbal communication
* Carrying out works within confined spaces, using established safety procedures in conjunction with the Jointer
* Carrying out ‘dead’ and 'live' LV jointing works in accordance with safe working practices and in compliance with the adopting DNO’s codes of practice, under the direct and personal supervision of the Jointer
* Carrying out HV jointing works in accordance with safe working practices and in compliance with the adopting DNO’s codes of practice, under the direct and personal supervision of the Jointer
* Excavating cable trenches and joint bays using hand held tools and equipment
* Laying LV and HV cables in open trenches and through ducts
* Ensuring the jointing van is kept tidy and that replenishment of consumables is carried out as necessary
* Allowing for entry into substations for jointing, installation and standby duties
* Assisting Engineers as required
You'll already have experience & qualifications in:
* Excellent understanding of works on or adjacent to the distribution network
* Good understanding and knowledge of electricity supply, quality and continuity regulations and electricity at work regulations.
* Excellent customer support skills
* Basic awareness of Risk Assessments, COSHH, PPE
* Currently hold (or have held) authorisations up to 33kV including permit to work (accepting 11KV with extensive experience).
* CSCS (affiliated).
* The use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint etc. across multiple platforms such as smart phones, tablets, laptops etc.
* Emergency First Aid at Work
* Full UK driving license (Maximum of 3 points).
* Assisting the use of hydraulically operated plant and equipment

Understanding the local network anomalies and ensuring correct phase rotation.
