About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Category Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for driving the growth and success of our product categories, ensuring they remain competitive, profitable, and aligned with market trends. Experience in food ingredient buying is essential for this role.
Your ability to influence and negotiate will be key as you collaborate closely with our Sales team to drive profitable growth. Emphasising quality, service, and integrity, you'll play a crucial role in instilling confidence in our customers' choice to partner with us.

Key Responsibilities
* Evaluate and select supply partners for your product categories, developing supply agreements and collaborating with our Technical team for supplier approval.
* Identify new product category opportunities and present business cases to the leadership team.
* Assess risks and opportunities in selected categories and develop strategies to limit risks.
* Negotiate supply contracts, including pricing and terms, and create costing spreadsheets for accurate quotes by the Sales team.
* Monitor stock levels and address concerns (shortage, slow moving items, supply issues) while conducting benchmark analysis on key product categories for pricing improvements.
* Keep up to date with market trends, propose new products to meet evolving customer needs, and provide market research insights.
* Support in the design and implementation of procurement process improvements.
* Conduct product training for the Sales team and accompany them on customer visits.
* Attend trade shows to meet with existing and potential suppliers, gaining valuable market insights and supporting profit growth.
* Attend customer meetings with the Sales team when required.
* Occasional international travel to meet with suppliers.
Skills and Experience
* Minimum 2 years experience in a Procurement or Commercial role within the food industry.
* Proven track record in food ingredient buying.
* Strong knowledge of market trends, supplier management, and cost optimisation.
* Knowledge of imports, customs, and Inco terms.
* Proficient in gathering, interpreting, and presenting information clearly.
* Skilled in utilising data and information to develop effective purchasing strategies.
* Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
* Committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
* Strong ability to build and nurture relationships with exceptional interpersonal skills.
* Highly organised, with a proven ability to prioritise tasks and deliver outputs efficiently.
* A commercial and tenacious mindset with a collaborative approach.

Salary: Up to £45,000 gross per annum (depending on skills and experience).
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday.
Location: Remote Position (2 days per month required in Head Office based in Evesham).
