Finance Support and Training Coordinator
Are you passionate about numbers, solving problems, and empowering others through knowledge? Are you ready to join a collaborative, forward-thinking team in an exciting and evolving finance environment? If so, we want to hear from you!
We are seeking a dynamic Finance Support and Training Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you’ll be the bridge between finance operations and people development. You’ll help colleagues navigate financial processes, deliver training sessions to upskill teams, and provide excellent support to ensure financial systems run smoothly.
The role sits within the Directorate of Support Services and the post will have a cross-departmental focus to ensure our training package, volunteer support and all financial processes are equitable and effective for all stakeholders.
What you would be doing
As the Finance Support and Training Coordinator, you will be at the heart of ensuring smooth financial operations for the organisation and helping student volunteer officers succeed. You will provide exceptional support, simplify financial processes, and deliver engaging training sessions, empowering others with the skills and confidence they need.
Key responsibilities include:
* To provide clear, understandable responses to all queries directed, or referred, to the finance team in an efficient and timely manner
* To advise student officers on the correct accounting and VAT codes to use on financial documents, with clear explanations on how to decide which codes to use
* To deliver annual finance training sessions to new student club officers as part of the wider officer induction process run by the Student Activities Team
* To deliver ad-hoc training sessions as required throughout the academic year
* To assist with the review and processing of financial documentation, including invoices and expense claims, chasing up missing or incorrect documentation as needed
* To support the Finance Team to complete day-to-day tasks as required.
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will be committed to using their skills and knowledge to empower our student volunteer leaders and will have experience of supporting the administration of financial processes for the organisation. We are looking for a natural problem solver who excels at breaking down complex topics into understandable steps, a team player who takes the initiative, and the ability to deliver engaging training with their strong communication skills.
Ideally you will have experience within a financial environment, providing an exceptional support service, working with financial systems and processes. You will be able to operate with autonomy as well as be able to balance competing priorities and have a passion for process improvement and helping others grow.
What we can offer you
Please note this role is with the Students’ Union. We’re a registered charity in our right, with our own governance, systems, processes and objectives. However, we work extremely closely with Imperial College London, so you’ll also be joining a wider community of staff working within higher education. If you’ve never worked in a students’ union, or are unsure why it’s different, we urge you to get in contact. It’s a brilliant place to work.
As an employee of Imperial College, you will be part of lively community and work in a friendly and relaxed environment. Our aim is to provide to all our employees an encouraging and relaxed working environment with an emphasis on personal development and work-life balance. Based on that we offer:
* 25 days holiday (plus 6/7 extra days per year for College Christmas and Easter closures)
* bicycle loan scheme
* season ticket loan
* excellent professional development opportunities and many more.
