Entity: Production & Operations Job Family Group: Wells Group Job Description: About the opportunity : The Well Operations Manager (WOM) is a leadership role in the North Sea Wells organisation and, as the successful candidate for this role, you will be the focal point for the day-to-day safety, technical, operational and execution rigor of activities within your portfolio. Reporting into the Vice President (VP) Wells, North Sea & Regions, as the WOM you will lead the safe execution of well activity in line with the programme and standards, and be accountable for managing operational risk and driving succession planning and the development of the wider North Sea operational organisation. About the location : The role will be based in the United Kingdom - Aberdeen office. Permanent International Relocation may be considered. About the role : In more detail, some of your key accountabilities will be to: Provide strategic direction and vision for drilling contractors, service providers, onshore and offshore operations team to drive continuous improvement. Oversee conformance to OMS, in particular Control of Work (4.5), Risk (3.1, 3.2, 3.3), Results (8.2), and People and Competence (2.2). Manage the deployment of operations resources in the business. This includes responsibility for the performance assessment cycle and competency management (assessment and training). Coach and mentor to ensure appropriate development, career progression and regional succession plan. Participate in capability, deployment, and subject area health discussions (led by the VP Wells Integration) on behalf of the business’s operations personnel. Deliver HSE performance at the operational site within the framework of the rig safety management system. Systematically deliver process safety in wells operations. Verify that deviations are in place with the engineering subject areas (i.e., Drilling, Completions, Interventions, and Subsea) prior to execution. Manage the loss of well control and other MARs, including the verification of barrier health. Operational input to risk registers and risk assessments performed in advance of and as part of well operations. HSE and NPT incident reporting and investigation, including the closure of resultant actions and sharing of lessons across bp wells. Verify emergency response organisational readiness related to wells activity. Deliver well execution activity in line with the agreed SOR and programme, bp standards, and regulatory requirements. Deliver well execution performance within the agreed time and cost. Agree accurate well delivery schedule and well AFEs. Ensure teams are engaged in effective cost management and North Sea cost management initiatives. Delivery of North Sea wells, rig upgrades and rig start-ups to meet schedule and well design requirements. Provide operational input to engineering design and programme development to confirm that the well can be safely and efficiently delivered. Provide operational input to schedule and budget forecasts to confirm that the well time and cost are appropriate. Verify the closure of actions related to RV findings and Safety and Operational Risk Assurance (S&ORA) recommendations prior to starting up operations with new rigs. Delegate and oversee performance management of service providers and contract management to direct reports. Manage rig contractor performance as the CAM for the contract. Manage interventions contractor performance. Have ownership of rig maintenance on integrated facilities, requesting central rig engineering support as necessary. Learn and apply the best methodologies of bp, act with professionalism and strive for excellent execution. About you : You will have a Bachelors Degree in STEM subject or similar relevant experience. It would be essential that you have: Prior industry-specific knowledge and leadership experience Strong track record of delivery as Well Operations Manager or equivalent Proven track record of strong leadership experience in leading diverse teams Experience of managing partner and third-party contractor relationships Strong collaboration, interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and communicate at all levels Proven track record of coaching, mentoring and developing staff Proven track record of strategic vision and effective delegation Why join our team?
