Terms and conditions apply Engineering Graduate - This is a 4 year graduate programme About the role: You will play an important part in ensuring that TPE continues to deliver to its customers against the backdrop of major changes as we transform rail services in the north of England, most noticeably the £11 billion Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU). As TRU is a cross industry programme then within this there will be ample opportunity to gain experience in a variety of key areas and businesses, giving you an excellent understanding of the whole rail industry. This Graduate Engineering position will join the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) Railway Engineering Graduate Scheme (REGS), working directly for TransPennine Express. This scheme includes both practical, hands-on experience, with opportunity to collaborate with a number of key industry stakeholders, including train manufacturers, maintainers, financiers and technical consultancies, in support of successful project delivery and fleet operation. We anticipate that the role will lead to a permanent position within the Major Projects function at TransPennine Express, contributing to transformational programmes, including but not limited to the New Trains Procurement and Digital Railway projects. This involvement offers the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies and innovative projects that are shaping the future of rail transport in the North. Through the structured and accredited scheme, supported by an industry mentor, the graduate will work towards Chartered Engineer status with either the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). Experiences include but are not limited to: Project management Technical investigations and engineering standards Hands-on, train manufacture, maintenance and management of rolling stock fleets Operations, financial, and commercial appreciation General management and presentation skills courses Train driving experience Traction and Rolling Stock systems technical courses Technical workshop skills Furthermore, there will be opportunities to network within the industry through invitations to key events and technical visits, providing further exposure for networking, and continued professional development. What we are looking for: Minimum 2:2 Masters in Engineering / Technical subject (or on track to achieve). Some work experience is useful, but not essential. Strong communication skills and fluency in English. Within reasonable commuting distance of our Head Office based in Manchester (M1 6LT) Willingness to travel as required.
