As a band 5 MSK physiotherapist, you will have the opportunity to learn alongside developing your clinical skills for practice. Participation in our in-house development program will also equip you with skills and attributes essential to the rest of your career. You will be fully integrated into a larger team with a focus on delivering high-quality care at the right time and place.
As the successful candidate, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership skills, and good organization skills. You will be able to plan your own work while also working effectively within a team. You will have the ability to prioritize and make sound decisions, sometimes under pressure. You will carry a varied caseload of musculoskeletal complaints with a view to utilizing all treatment and care options as appropriate, with the support of a named supervisor.
To carry out effective and appropriate assessments using knowledge and skills combined with clinical reasoning and contribute towards accurate diagnosis, your responsibilities will include:
1. Working with patients to identify and agree on treatment goals, delivering patient-centered care based on assessment outcomes, which demonstrate an appreciation of the complex interaction of risk, safety, patient choice, shared decision-making, independence, areas of conflict, and eligibility for services.
2. Using communication, reasoning, and negotiation skills to establish a working partnership with patients, families, and carers while identifying barriers to communication.
3. Planning and leading patient group sessions as clinically relevant.
4. Addressing all risk areas associated with individual patients’ ability to function.
5. Contributing to effective discharge planning.
6. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions/treatments using outcome measures.
7. Representing the Physiotherapy Service within the multidisciplinary team and participating in relevant team/network meetings and clinics to contribute to the discussion and planning of patient care.
8. Working with assistants and technical instructors regarding clinical caseloads and providing necessary support on clinical issues.
