During a period of rapid expansion GE Vernova are looking to recruit Close Out Engineers to work on our exciting new projects within our North & South European Grid Solutions Business with principal offices in Stafford, Villeurbanne, Oslo, Glasgow & Copenhagen. You'll be based at either our Stafford, Glasgow, or Villeurbanne office (circa 3 days per week), we have a flexible approach to working operating a hybrid system and reduced working hours on Fridays. As a Close Out Engineer you will be instructing, supervising, coordinating, and leading the engineering activities of the project in line with the project's safety, quality, time delivery, and cost criteria in the final stages of the project, including the co-ordination of the returns of designs, site records, customer documentation, and engineering mark ups. This may involve site visits to ensure timely completion, as the completion of engineering snagging. As a Close Out Engineer, you'll be co-ordinating design activities and engineering activities required to finalise and close out the project, whether done in house or by our delivery partners, and ensure technical co-ordination of the Grid Solutions Project. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities - Responsible for issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of your work package, integrating submission dates. - Manage engineering activities, check coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions activities (procurement, construction, commissioning) and organise follow up of critical activities of the project or of your discipline. - Plan and manage delivery time of technical interfaces with your work package, put in place exchange interface sheets with partners, customer, and third-party contractors. - Ensure on-time delivery of design and or documentation to stakeholders with suitable quality including Partner documents. - For large & complex projects support Project Engineering Director and/or Project Engineering Manager in the engineering change management - Coordinate design teams - you'll be supported by Primary, Secondary and Civil Designers. - Follow the engineering budget and identify potential savings and highlight to the Project Manager all instances requiring additional budget. - Participate and contribute to the project multidisciplinary design reviews according to the EMH procedures and per the project strategy. - Manage scope or design changes & prepare related claims and VO to be approved by Project Engineering Director or Project Manager. - Identify, track, and manage potential change. - Ensure that Management of return status of project documentation internal or external (approved, comments, resubmit, rejected) is performed for your work package. - Check effectiveness of documentation against delivery of contract requirements within project budget. Required Qualifications - Experience of Engineering activities as a document controller or engineer in EPC type environment. - Successful experience in technical project management in a multi-disciplinary team context including multiple interfaces and with products/suppliers coming from several countries. Desired Characteristics - Knowledge of the Transmission or Distribution industry is essential. - A background involving substations and/or offshore wind is highly advantageous. - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are advantageous. - Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously. - Knowledge of Renewable Energy systems is beneficial. - Knowledge of GIS systems is beneficial.
