EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Assistant Engineer to join our team, primarily supporting Portfolio Management and Business Planning within the Tactical Asset Planning function. As an Assistant Asset Engineer, you'll be a crucial part of our Tactical Asset Planning team. You'll support the development and implementation of our asset management strategy, helping us make informed decisions about where to invest resources. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to tactical decision-making.
This role is within the wastewater networks infrastructure element of the Severn Trent Value Chain. As an Assistant Asset Engineer, you’ll support the Tactical Asset Planning Manager and Senior Asset Engineers within our team and will be responsible for conducting research, analysis, and overarching project management of financial, risk, and project-related data to ensure the best information is available to enable the team to make key investment decisions (technical, financial, and commercial feasibility).
The role will be all-encompassing, allowing you to have a central role in supporting the development and implementation of the Tactical Asset Planning Strategy but also assisting in applying asset management principles and administration to some of our key asset classes.
We’re wanting someone to come into this role to analyze and identify potential problems to enable the team to produce the best life cycle decisions to ensure our assets are fit for the future.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Analyse data: Use your data analysis skills to identify trends, assess asset health, and identify areas for improvement.
2. Prioritise projects: Help us determine which projects are most critical and should be prioritised for investment.
3. Track project progress: Monitor the implementation of projects, ensuring they stay on track and deliver the desired outcomes.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders: Work with other teams and stakeholders to ensure projects align with our overall goals.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
1. It's key that you have strong analytical, project management/co-ordination, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of waste networks would be beneficial, but skills or experience in the implementation and delivery of projects at project or portfolio level (including PMO) would be advantageous.
2. Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets and those with the right experience, but we value character, positivity, and a caring attitude in equal weight.
3. We want people who show up and roll their sleeves up. Restless spirits who are ready to be part of something bigger, who care, who really care... because when you really care, you’ll go above and beyond. When you really care, you don’t just talk about it, you do more.
4. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We employ thousands of people from across our community who really care about what they do. Because that is how we do what we do.
What We're Looking For:
1. Strong analytical skills: You can turn data into insights that drive decision-making.
2. Project management experience: You're comfortable managing projects from start to finish.
3. Data analysis skills: Proficiency in tools like Power BI is a plus.
4. Collaborative mindset: You enjoy working with a team to achieve common goals.
5. Passion for making a difference: You care about improving our wastewater network and the communities we serve.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We’ll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.
1. Days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/sell up to days per year)
2. Annual bonus scheme (of up to £, per annum based on company performance)
3. Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to % when you contribute)
4. Sharesave – the chance to buy Severn Trent Plc shares at a discounted rate
5. Dedicated training and development with our ‘Academy’
6. Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
7. Family-friendly policies
8. Two volunteering days per year
Join our team and make a real impact on our wastewater network.
