Therapy Assistant

Pathfinders-Care is a residential Nursing facility based in Ollerton Nottinghamshire that has strong founding values. So what is it we do?
We specialise in assisting people with long term conditions and co-morbidities. Progressive conditions, end of life care, trauma, re-enablement and rehabilitation. Providing and promoting quality of life, choice, dignity and independence wherever possible. To be a little more specific, this could be in the form of-
1. Intense rehabilitation
2. Slow-stream rehabilitation
3. Neurological rehabilitation
4. Respiratory rehabilitation
5. Respiratory maintenance.
6. Tracheostomy and Ventilation.
7. Neurological & palliative symptom management
8. End of life care / palliative care
9. Complex Symptom management
This is just an insight into the type of care we deliver but will give you an idea how the job could be rewarding in so many ways.
What is it you will be doing?
The successful applicant will assist the physiotherapists and occupational therapists in their daily activities. The therapy assistant will:
1. Conduct weekly respiratory equipment changes, cleaning and maintenance on a rotational basis and report any missing equipment to the therapy clerk or director of facilities timeously.
2. Work under the guidance and direction of an occupational therapist/physiotherapist in the delivery of the therapy service.
3. Assist the Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist in the assessment and treatment of service users and report back accordingly.
4. Accompany residents on therapy-related appointments such as to orthotics or wheelchair services on a rotational basis.
5. Assist with the running of sessions and interventions within the therapy team under the direction of a registered member of staff.
6. Assist with activities of daily living within Pathfinders such as eating, washing, dressing and cooking for the purpose of therapy.

Weekend enhancement
Night shift increment of extra £1 per hour (not available unless working a night shift)
Overtime paid at 1.5 times normal rate of pay (After 36 hours or above contracted hours whichever is higher)
Full induction (6 months) and personal training pathway up to and including Apprentice Nurse Associate Programme. We will be looking to expand this out further to offer training pathways in Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language therapist over the next 18 months and into 2023.
